Last week in my art class, we worked on projects with the theme Pressure. I came up with my idea based on a greek legend of a god being forced to hold up the sky away from the earth on his shoulders. Basically he had to literally carry the world on shoulders. Hence the connection to the theme. I decided to take a chance and do a paper-mache sculpture of a man holding up the world. I do admit that this sculpture is quite common with greek sculptors, but I wanted to give it a try. I went online and looked at many different photos of the legend as a sculpture, and figured out what shape and stance I wanted him to be in. I haven't finished yet, but am hoping for the best.
